This is really my 2nd that I have done from start to finish by myself. I would very much like to get constructive critisium on this so I know what I need to work on. I have 3 more kind of like this in the works with two of them to be a matched set. So I really would like to get these right. This knife is 01, 1/8 thick. Over all length is 7 3/8" inch with blade having a 2 3/4" inch cutting area and being 3 1/2" inches to the edge of the handle. Handle is Ebony with 1/8" front pin and 3/16" mosiac pin in the back. I still have to put a finish on the scales and put the final edge on the blade. I have the sheath almost finished. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the pics, they are not the best in the world.

Fitup on the tang looks very good. Like the design, one thing..... please for the love of GOD round the handle off!!! :p

I'd go with 2 mosaic pins and a tube in the back. I think it looks better that way, or perhaps a pin in the front and back with the mosaic in the center.

If you do a knife of similar look next time, I'd bring the plunge back farther, giving a larger cutting edge.

Looks great but, yes, it would look much better if you rounded the edges of the handle. lol Will.

I also agree with Mike.

Pretty good knife right there

Execution-wise, it looks very good. Design-wise, as the above gentlemen said, I'd bring the plunge cut as close as possible to the handle, fatten the scales a little and round them much more...unless this is a "neck" knife, where a slim handle is in fact desired.

Keep at it!

Thanks guys I really appreciate the advice. Will the lack of rounding off the edges is something that I know, but for some reason just did not do it. It seems that the older I get the more of these Brain Farts I keep having. :) My original design of this knife was to bring the scales farther up on it. Think I will go back with what I thought I should do to start off with. Thanks again.

It's a little hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like your grinds are very good. I agree with the other comments about rounding the handle and bringing the plunges back and/or the handles forward.

You should be able to still do more work on the handle now unless you've already given it away...

Hey Wade, These guys are offering a lot of good advice... my .02
Center load the mosaic pin, you can still use the hole its in for the thong tube, not wasting any wood. Again in the mind set of conserving mat'ls, move the plunge back. I see what your saying about making the scales longer but unless you have a wood stretcher, I wouldn't scrap a nice piece of ebony.
