New knife!!!!!

Does anyone know if it's a solid tang or skeleton? Also looking forward to see how how the grip is liked.🤔 I know which one I would have liked.😜👍

Dammit, cannot download the catalog with that link here at the office....it's to a website with "weapons". :thumbdn:

Love the shape on that. One of my pet-peeves is a swedge on a large woods knife of that type (like the BK9) because they eat batons. I am really glad to see that Jesse left it as a flat top/drop point sorta deal with saber grind. That's gotta be one beefy, strong blade.
Reminiscent of an Ontario SP50 (a highly regarded chopper in its own right), but with full exposed tang and bolted on scales for those who would like to mod/upgrade.

I'm not really a "big knife" kinda guy (i usually just pair a hatchet with a smaller knife if i need to chop stuff), but that could definitely find a place in my rotation.

Thank you guys for starting this thread and conversation! I'm back from SHOT, so any questions you might have, please let me know and I will answer them. I'm hoping to get a nice video overview and photos done this weekend and I will post it up as soon as I can!

I do have one question according to Kabar the jarosz chopper has Ultramid handles.... is Ultramid another name for grivory? If not how does it compare to other handle materials?

Thx

Same family of materials. Ultramid is a glass reinforced nylon polymer. Injection molded.
Thanks!

Its hard to tell from the photos.

Does the rear portion of the handle swell across the width of the knife(in the direction that would be coming towards the viewer of the photos)? I see that it does have some flare across the chord of the knife, I just can't tell the other dimension.

For me, the swell there is support important for a chopper. That's one of the things I love about Ethan's knives, as it gives me a lot of confidence in my grip on the knife while I'm swinging it. So that's why I'm asking (as I've not had the pleasure of handling one of your blades yet).

Also, I do like the blade profile. I am not a fan of choils though (no offense). If I got this knife, I'd have to grind that off.

Oh, and about the 1217. Hasn't that "new" grind height (which is actually just the original grind height) a few year old change now? I seem to remember a few threads about it a year or two back.
