New knife!!!!!

Thank you

Talking about shot show how'd it go?
Shot was awesome! I wasn't there the full week this year, but I definitely enjoyed it. It's always nice seeing people you don't get to see but 1 or 2 times a year.
Oh hell yes!
👍👍

Its hard to tell from the photos.

Does the rear portion of the handle swell across the width of the knife(in the direction that would be coming towards the viewer of the photos)? I see that it does have some flare across the chord of the knife, I just can't tell the other dimension.

For me, the swell there is support important for a chopper. That's one of the things I love about Ethan's knives, as it gives me a lot of confidence in my grip on the knife while I'm swinging it. So that's why I'm asking (as I've not had the pleasure of handling one of your blades yet).

Also, I do like the blade profile. I am not a fan of choils though (no offense). If I got this knife, I'd have to grind that off.

Oh, and about the 1217. Hasn't that "new" grind height (which is actually just the original grind height) a few year old change now? I seem to remember a few threads about it a year or two back.

Photos definitely make it hard to catch, here's a photo from a better perspective for you.
No offense taken on the choil, that's the cool thing about having so many designers and brands to choose from, or having the tools to tweak your knives the way you like!

Thanks!

Thanks for clarifying, and for the photo sir :). It looks like it does indeed have a little bit of a flare there at the end of the handle. Coupled with a lanyard (which, I always use on any knife I chop with), it should be pretty secure :).

And I'm glad you're not offended about the choil thing. I've just found after trying a few knives with them, that they're not really my thing. My personal preference doesn't take anything away from your design (and by the sound of things, I'm more in the minority in this, so it makes sense that the design would have one). And, I could just grind down the middle there even if I did get it. Seems like that wouldn't cause any problems anyway.

Thanks again for the update sir.

I am having trouble understanding how you will grind the choil out.
Got a picture?

I didn't see the Kabar Ek knives in the catalog. Have those been discontinued already? Inwas hoping they would do more with the brand.

The EK4, EK5 and EK Spartan are all available on the Kabar web site. They have not been relegated to the discontinued world yet.

Jesse - have you considered doing a passaround of the chopper - or maybe you and Steve doing a Midwest gathering like E does on the coasts?

Btw does the choppa have the texturing coating like the beckers or is it smooth like the original USMC Kabar?
