In the mail today for me was a Boker copperhead pattern slipjoint in smooth red bone with two 2 7/8" carbon blades (a clip point and a skinner). I'm usually a function-over-form kind of guy, and this is my first "pretty" knife.

Now I know this isn't a "survival" knife, but it would make a decent companion to a larger fixed blade. I like that it has a pair of blades, in case one gets damaged or dulled. I actually got it as a more elegant, "dress up" edc choice than the SAKs or multitools that I usually carry around.

As a boy, I always had a slipjoint in my pocket. I broke a couple, but I was a kid, and kids always push things to there limits. I think with some finess, you can make one work just fine as an outdoor knife...hey thats all there was at one time. Gene

I very well could be a survival knife, as it's most likely to be on you when trouble pops up unexpectedly.

A skilled person can do a lot with a pocket knife.

That sounds like a great companion. I usually have a some kind of traditional knife in my pocket regardless of what else I am carrying. The 3" Copperhead looked real good in carbon.

I carry a slipjoint everyday and haven't had a problem yet, people get caught up in new and forget about the old, a lot of times old is better, carbon steel for example. Chris
