Got my second scandi today. Bro in law found a sweet deal on some bruslettos and we bought the lot of them...got about 10 knives and 2 ulus. Came out to be around $40/each nib. I only ended up keeping a turk kniv..is that the correct name??

Fookin sharp! Damn...bro in law cut his arm doing a shave test. Nice knife...especially for $40.

Not my pic...

I am thinking of tung oiling the handle to make the grain pop a little more...what's the concensus of doing that??

If the wood is already sealed with something else, I doubt tung oil would help any. If it's just a clear sealer on top of the wood, and you sand it down just a
bit, the tung oil will soak right in. It's not so much to bring out the grain (although it will, to some extent) as to seal up the pores. I like oil finishes for the silky, natural feel they give you, but they do require a little maintenance and won't hold up to dirt and grime super well. If you keep it reasonably clean and wipe it down with more oil every couple of months, it will age nicely. Maple guitar necks take on a very nice amber color treated this way

The Nansen kniv design, is inspired by a knife that Fridtjof Nansen received from Greenland Eskimoes. Looks like a good one!

James, thanks for that info! i have many maple necked guitfiddles and LOVE the look/feel of em ala EVH! The knife has a silky, non treated feel, but I would just like it to pop a little more...
