Hey all, I'm looking for a new knife. $100 or less. tactical/EDC. Plain edge please. No slipits. Suggestions, as well as reasons, and pictures are welcome :)

Edit: Yes I posted this in Spyderco forum, but i don't want to limit myself to only Spyderco's.

Thanks in advance, Brad

I suggest the Paramilitary 2, Manix 2, Benchmade Griptillian, most of Kershaw's upper line.

I don't know about tactical, but Spyderco's Sage pattern is exceptional in an EDC/utility role

Any flavor of the Kershaw blur is awesome. and i think you can get one with s30v for under 100. stonewashed and everything. Looks pretty good. i would post pictures, but i can't get pictures on my work computer (mean ol' government). there is also the manix 2, which looks like a nice knife. i myself try to stay away from the benchmades. i had a bad experience with all 3 i owned. i personally prefer spyderco or kershaw. for somewhere around the $100, you can also get a ZT 0400, which is a nice knife, s30v, assisted open. just some ideas. definitely check out kershaw or spyderco's stuff though.

Im going to also suggest the Para2. An exceptional knife for the money

A Spyderco Manix 2 would do the trick. I also like the Cold Steel American Lawman or Recon 1. Benchmade has a few in that price range too. Good Luck! Kevin :D

You would not be sorry picking up a Spyderco Para 2, but it could be difficult to find one for $100 or less NIB. Some other Spydies within your target budget are the Manix 2, Delica/Endura, Native 1, or a Salt of some configuration. Or go less expensive with something from the Tenacious family. Good things are also said of the Buck Vantage line, and offerings from Cold Steel (such as the American Lawman, Recon, or AK-47 series.)

Good luck! :)

Edit: wow, I completely forgot to add the awesome Ontario RAT-1... :o

para 1 or 2?
The Para 2, sorry forgot there were two of them; I don't own any spydercos but I have handled them, and they are really nice. You could also try the Kershaw Blur, as McCleaven suggested. Also, as several people suggested; the Manix 2 is a good knife as well.

I just got a Sage 1 for EDC. Its small size, light weight, and wire clip are pluses for edc. For tactical, I'd want something a little bigger and with half serrations, like my SOG Trident.

I just received my Paramilitary 2 today and I must say, it is one AMAZING knife for the money. I paid $117 for the camo g10 and satin blade off eBay. I know that's above your specific price, but I saw a black and satin combo on eBay from a repuatable guy for $104 and some change shipped....you won't regret buying this knife!!!!!!!!!!

If I had a second knife to suggest, it would be the Spyderco Sage 1. Might be a little lacking in blade length for tactical use, but for utility usage it is great! I think they're pretty easy to find around $95 or less.

And if I had a third knife to recommend, it would be the Kershaw Blur. If you went with any of the versions with out the S30v, I've seen them go for $30 bucks or less on eBay and around $50 at online stores. I would recommend the S30v over those, but that would be your choice. My dad has been using his tanto version for about a year and a half now and has developed some blade play I cannot fix and the aluminum has scratched up a bit though....he did beat the crap out of his though and it has held up considerably well for what he has done.....

The kershaw blur would be an excellent choice. I would recommend the s30v version. it is a very nice knife for the money. another great option would be the ZT 0400, as has already been said. they can be had for 100 NIB if you get them from kershawguy here on the forums.
