New, KnifeMaker only forums: Your thoughts?

I think it would be a good place to discuss private issues that affect makers.

Like for example. We could confront Dan Gray about his caffiene problem. I could get some help with my uncontrollable urge to pee in my slack tub. We could all agree to instantaniously raise our prices to get rich as Kit :D

Ray, go here. Get the Knifemakers subscription or you can't post in the knifemakers for sale forums, the same with Knifemakers equipment for sale.

But no way consider myself a knifemaker. A student of knifemaking yes. But I am no league with 99% of the people here. Also I would sorely miss the good advice on this forum. I don't having a problem paying to be a member, I guess you'd call me a wannabe.

I am with SteelSwing.
I cannot compete with the majority of people here. I have yet to build a knife from scratch.
I buy old broken knives for a couple of bucks at a gerage sale and regrind the edges, give them scales of whatever I find, and they become crappy looking gifts that cut really well.
However, I do hang out here and have learned everything I need to know about knifemaking from this forum. I visit here everyday and see what is going on. When I get out of college and start making money, instead of living from one loan to the next, I plan on building my own shop.

Do I need to upgrade my membership? Yes.
When will I do so? Next paycheck. (I am a work study student and get paid beans.)

Greymaker, dont worry about it, I pay everything with a check through snail mail too.

I just dont want this forum to go away, it was one of the reasons that I started paying.
 
Now that I look at my membership I guess it ran out.
No reason I cant pay another $10 to become a Knifemaker... although I find it kinda funny calling myself that when I have seen some of yalls stuff. :o
 
I am not a knife maker. I don't want to be a knife maker. However, I have gained more insight, and knowledge, from shop talk than I ever imagined. Please, if you do have a "KniveMaker" only - allow anyone to read it, but only members to post to it.

They're not taking "Shoptalk away. they're talking of adding an additional, private forum for knifemakers only. Shoptalk will stay. :eek: :D

I think you'd have all the dings and bell as the maker status.

I'm I right Guys :)
 
I personally don't think it's right for people who have never made a knife to have Knifemaker under their name just to get into a secret forum, etc.

Too many people have busted their ass to get that title, I know I did, and it's just not right to call yourself a knifemaker unless you are. :mad:
