Hey guys, just bought my knifemakers membership! Wahoo! Started working on my friction folder today, will post pics later. Thanks for all your help on this fourm and I can't wait to start sellin. :D

I welcome you but will also tell you unless you have some outstanding natural talents, it could be a very long time before you make something with quality enough to sell for even the cost of the materials used. Frank

Welcome the good new is there are plenty of people on the forum that will help you if you want it and a lot of fun to be had. The bad news is you may soon be working a second job to support your knife making "business" good luck and have fun with it

...this forum should help a lot. the first 10 years of my "hand made" knives were complete garbage, but it was all trial and error. I can only assume the questions and answers on this site will be a godsend for you (and me, for that matter) sooooo much knowledge in such a small space.

BF already has helped a bunch and I learned about everything I know here! You guys are super nice and helpful here. Knife making ain't cheap... or easy but it sure is fun, addicting and rewarding. Saving up for a pheer grinder. :)

cant do much about the cost mate its just a part of it, i study full time so my cash is well un-existent but make a few sacrifices, i dont drink, smoke, gamble, eat take away food, that in itself is a great saving there and all money i save goes to my future knife shop, in 6 months ive got tools, workstation i built, drill press, and 1/2 of a homemade 2x72 grinder, im getting there.

Dont let the cost be a discouraging factor, ofcourse everyone here would love to sell there blades off the bat but there's alot you need to make sure of, quality, feel, look, you dont wanna sell someone a blade that will break on them so you want to test your blades, your heat treating methods and how they hold up. Think to yourself would i buy my knife and also think ok what if someone bought one of my knives and they hurt themselves with it because i did not correctly check that my knives where upto every day use.

Basically have fun with it, take your time, you can make 10 shit knives in a week or make 1 good knife in a fortnight/month and at the end of it look at it be proud of it. Dont think of this as an income of money thats what part time jobs are for this is a hobby and your a hobby maker like so many others
