New knives, edges not very neat

On the 10 spydercos I have owned and the ones I have sold in a knife shop, while I was working there, they were consistently ground and sharpest of all other production knives.

My USMC Ka-Bar came with very uneven edeges . I spent literally hours on the sharpmaker trying to fix what should have been taken care of at the factory

Personally, I don't care whether the edges are perfectly symmetrical on both sides of the knife. As long as it's sharp, holds its edge, and is easily sharpenable, then it doesn't much matter to me what the edges *look* like. I suspect that these inconsistencies are probably more due to variations in the grinding, not the sharpening processes used.

That's not very constructive.

Spydercos may look ugly to you, but I assure you it's an acquired taste and their F&F is amongst the top of the heap of the big knife companies. Also their edge grinds are almost always inhumanly perfect, despite being sharpened by hand on a grinder like every other production knife.

Neither is coming into a thread about three other knives, and telling the poster to send them all back and buy a Spyderco!

Of course, both the Caly 3's I've had have had uneven grinds, so I may be biased.

That being said, I still carry the knife everyday. As far as the three uneven knives the OP is talking about, if it bothers you, why not send them back to be exchanged or fixed?

I will post pics laters, I'm off to see the doctor to get stitches, cut myself pretty bad with the shallot. :o
Lesson learned; pay attention when opening an semi automatic :p

A bit late but heres a pic made with my cellphone; good camera but no manual focus :grumpy:
Here I just got rid of the 500 metres of bandages the doctor put on.
Doctors love to put a crap load of bandage on; makes their work seem important ;)

I noticed the blades on all the knives aren't straight alligned in the handle as well, although the Kershaw mysteriously straightened itself. :)

This is the Boker:

Theres some more issues I didn't expect for the price I paid. I live in Holland and I paid € 55 for the Kershaw; could be a lot more if I didn't order it online.

But I took a look at my elcheapo crap knives from when I was a kid, and they are much much worse. So I conclude its normal for knives to not have superb finish and looks; they are tools and not jewelry. :p
