New Knives from Eric Barnes

Nice knives Eric. I like the curly maple clip point, and what is the wood of the bottom knife in the third pic?
 
all knife handles are stabilized burl maple from James Poplin----
popsknifesupplies.com

the handles are great to grind and have very few inclusions--
all steel is 1084, or a mix of 1084 and 203e.

the guards are stainless, as are the pins

all leather is from Dave Smith of Fox, Arkansas (870.363.4210) high quality, great prices.

Do you have your JS or are you testing for it?

Have you ever apprenticed with any ABS makers?

They are all nice, but I really like the little clip-point number in the bottom of this photo. I can just imagine it with a 10"-blade companion bowie...

Hi Anthony-thanks for your interest--In 1984 I met Glen Hicklin, he had some awsome forged blades. I bought a knife from him for 200$--a huge sum to a highschooler. I was hooked from then on. I started vo-tec in 1987(tool and die), that is where i built my first forge and started to bend metal. In the 1990's i met Jim Crowell while working with him @ Stone County Ironworks. He rekindled my interest in knifemaking and I worked with him off and on for a few years. I started to apprentice with him , after a year or so went by, Jim and I parted ways--(3rd party screwed us both over)I joined the ABS in 1997 and was going to test but figured after the Jim incident i would hold off. Ive been to Washington AR several times for cutting competition--Im going to rejoin the ABS at the prodding of Larry Connelley @ knifeart.com and hope to test soon with Jim Walker. I have my own shop, make my own damascus, and i have a website. (kinda slow loading but i'm trying) again thanks
