New Laminated Integral

Awesome knife. I have a couple of questions. What does CLI stand for? Carbon Laminated Integral? Also, is the core hardened all the way from the edge to the spine? Thanks.

CLI stands for Composite Laminated Integral.

The core is hardened all the way to the spine, the whole core is tempered back to 58-59 RC and then it's tempered back at the spine. That's how I did this one. It depends on the knife and the core thickness. Sometimes I leave the core 60 RC or so for rigidity of the blade.

What my pal Russ Andrews said.... plus- HOLY CRAP!!!

    :D

:eek:HOLY MOLY:eek:

that is SICK!! Incredible Work Burt. Your Laminated blade looks fantastic. The Musk Ox Handles are extremely attractive. Beautiful sheath too for an overall Insane Package:thumbup:

It has been said, three pages worth but really I am speechless. That pic is my new desk top.

Holy (insert expletive here)!

That very well may be the most beautiful knife I've ever laid eyes on. That thing needs to wind up in a museum for posterity's sake some day.

I saw this today and I still dont know what to say. This is the Renaldus Magnus of blades this year.

That's the most well executed laminated blade I have seen to date. Really like the  'spearhead' effect in the top of the bolster.

Surprised it's still available for purchase considering all the excitement in this thread.

Hard to add much. Awesome.

I like the activity between skin and core; can't tell if it's more like fire or a breaking wave.

Very nice! Beautiful handle material.

Nice sheath also!!

Kind regards,

Jos

Congrats to you my friend, may that fine knife add a little sparkle to your eye!

Congrats to Burt for building a very interesting and much discussed knife vastly outside of his comfort zone.
