I have a couple of Maglites with incandescant bulbs, and I'm interested in converting them to LED.

I don't see anything online. It would be nice if it was just a matter of swapping bulbs. Any place I could get them?

Maglite does make their own LED conversion bulb. You do have to buy specifically for size though i.e. for a 2D maglite, you need the 2D LED bulb, meaning, you can't put the 3D LED bulb in the 4D maglite to convert it to LED. They do make it for the 2D to 4D range. I converted all mine, except for the 6D though (I don't think they'll make it).

All my maglites right now are collecting dust because of my Streamlight Stinger. I bought 3 battery packs for it so I'm good for the entire night of use. It's super light and I believe as bright as the 4D LED maglite.

Or you could send it off and have a LED installed professionally by a couple of guys over on CPF. Let me know if you want their names.

Thanks, guys, good stuff!

My Streamlight Polytac goes with me to work, but my Mag' Solitaire fits nicely in my pocket. Wanted LED with the "batman look". Guys with three or four holsters attached to their belts..

Cree drop ins from Battery Junction here.
Got them for both the mini mag and the 3D mag.
Very impressive difference.

I just did this with a AA MiniMag. Found this conversion kit on clearance.

I've got Terralux drop-ins in AA and AAA MiniMags as well as in a couple of my bigger D cell Maglites. I recently picked up a 3x LED drop-in for my 6-cell D Mag and have been rather impressed with it.

Neonlight,

With your AA minimag, what changes in the on off switch. Terralux doesn't have a good photo to show if there is a change in the switch mechanism. Thanks in advance. -Kev

I converted a AA minimag with the niteize kit. It has the switch and the led, it makes for a nice light.

I have a 2D and a 3D that I installed terralux drop ins in. They are awesome, makes for a great car/truck/jeep light.

I just found a Maglite Solitaire knocking around is there any point in using any of the LED conversions? They seem a bit finicky but the Nite Ize kit I used on my AA maglite has worked out pretty well and the size of the solitaire is nice.

I've got a lot of the nicer LED lights including a couple of new Fenix models, and I've got several modded maglites from info. on CPF. I just recently bought a new Terralux LED module for a AA minimag and it is pretty amazing even compared to some of the really good lights. I bought mine on ebay for about $17, with a rated output of I think over 100 lumens. This is the best deal for upgrading minimags, and the Terralux bulb linked to above would be a similar thing for the C and D maglites. The old LED conversions that mag used to sell are actually pretty good too but they are not as bright as the newer modules with Cree LED's. I don't know if niteize has any new upgrades out but their old ones had pretty low output. The only good thing about them was that they were cheap and they were still an improvement over the incandescent minimags. I have an LED conversion in a solitaire from parts I bought on CPF but I'm not aware of any decent conversions available these days. Better to just buy a Fenix E05 for about $18 and throw away the solitaire.

terralux is the way to go, i modded my mini and it was impressive, but i gave it away to a friend last year because i have better options. If you make your way over to CPF, be prepared to possibly start spending alot of money on lights. It's an equally fun addiction. :D
