My "TSA certified" (knife had been confiscated once) Huntsman is now looking pretty good. I finally got around to ordering the "Plus" scales and installed them the other day. I now have a pen and a stainless steel pin. I got them in black, because... I am a slick, low-drag operator, and black just fits with the kind of dangerous person I am. The old scales had someone else's initials on them and last year they got a good soaking in DEET and melted. The knife looks brand new now.

I made a short video of the process, it is very easy. This is a great way to upgrade/restore an old knife.

Thats cool. I carry the Explorer Plus (loses the saw, adds a real phillips that folds out parallel to the scales, and magnifier); having that pen in the scale will come in handy. You may not need it often, but when you do, it really comes in handy.

Battle scars are beautiful!
So what have we got here? Do I see a scand grind on the first centimeter, followed by a convex zone in the middle of the blade, followed by a hyper sharp scalpel like grind at the tip? Is the back of the blade squared off for a fire steel? Enquiring minds want to see a new Colhane video.

Thanks for the video, I actually had no idea that vic scales just popped off. Never bothered to look up how they were attached, just always assumed it was complicated. :D Now you can walk proud in Prac-Tac (or so I hear).

LHA,

No special mods to this one, just "slash your finger" sharp.

Spooky,

I always was cool and someone not to be messed with, now, with the black scales, other people will know that and stay out of my "space". Mac

I always thought they were glued on. Huh! You learn something new every day. Thanks!

On another note, pict, did you receive an email from me about a week or so ago? No rush in replying. Just wondering.

PB,

I do recall getting it but for some reason I lost it. Could you resend it?

Where did you get the scales from? Victorinox doesn't seem to carry them on their main site. Can you also get individual tools to add on?

What a Cool Upgrade.

And thanks for sharing this Video on how to remove and install scales on a Vic.
