While I was on the boat this last trip my girlfriend took a family vacation the week after the 4th of July to northern Wisconsin. While up there she called me and said that she had a surprise. Since she can't keep surprise gifts for me a secret, and I neeeeeed to know anyways I got her to tell me she bought me two new knives in a little store.

The first, which I think is going to be my small regular carry knife is a Chinese Schrade 104OT. Its about the size of my Case Peanut, but the pen and clip blades are at opposite ends. Do I care that it is Chinese? no. Do I care that its not a "good" or "nice" knife? nope. Is it one of my favorite knives? damn right. Why? Because it was a thoughtful gift from the girl that I love who knows and tolerates my interest (obsession) with knives. :D

The other knife is a Buck Lancer. She bought that for me because while she does her grad school homework on the computer I needed some knife using hobby to keep myself occupied (read: to keep me from distracting her :D) so I pulled out my old whittling stuff that I had packed when I left Boston and went back to work on my ball in cage. Somehow she knew that little coping blade on the lancer would be good for whittling (she does listen to my kniferamblings from time to time!)

Anyhow I haven't posted here in a while so I thought it would be nice to share this story with people who like both traditional knives and people doing nice things for other people.

Thanks
Pete

Just because they aren't what many would consider desireable (imported),
the important thing is they were a gift from her. The fact that she cares enough to go to the effort to buy them for you is what counts.
Besides, it doesn't mean they won't serve you well for a very long time. Enjoy......

Yeah, these gift knives show she was thinking of you, and carefully picking out something she thought you'd like. Maybe she'd seen you with a similar pattern. A gift like that means alot, who cares were it's made.

Sharpen it up well and use the heck out of it. And thank her every time you take it out.
