I just noticed that GEC released their new lockback folder today.
At 3 7/8" its not as big as the Mountain Man from Queen/S&M.
Looks like a new Clip Point on this one too.
Might be pretty interesting as a Northfield in Stag or Ebony as well as Jigged Bone.
Worth a look for the 2010 forum knife? Or was a lockback pretty much shot down?

Just saw that also. If it were to be in the running for the 2010 Forum knife I would vote for it, would like to see it in dark Bone with a dark leather fob of some type.

this model could see lots of edc & some interest from the rural crowd. yellow bone for boonies & i like ebony tor towners.

Thanks for the headzup. Nice looking knife. Good to see a locking knife added to the lineup. Where can these be purchased? Best online vendor?

That is a great looking knife. I like red bone, but that color might be a little much :D
Its a great size to, just under 4 inches.

I'm enthusiastic, and knowing GEC there will be an interesting spectrum of handles introduced over the next few weeks. Grizzly Bone or Primitive would look well on this one, just the right size for an EDC lockback too. They might even offer it in stainless too.

As for Forum pattern, my recall is that locking blades were looked down on, pity.

Looks to be a great pattern. If the sales look good for it then they will certainly come thru with several variations (one to suit everybody, probably not). But they typically have 2-3 each of the Tidioute / Northfield lines on patterns that seem to have good public demand. Hopefully they will hit us with a couple of 440C variants as well....

I know these haven't hit the street yet, so no one has had a chance to actually handle one, but being a lock back I would think the back spring wouldn't be as stiff as on the typical GEC slip joint. I also think there wouldn't be a half stop on a lock back knife. Do you think that's correct, or not necessarily so?

Being somewhat of an "oldster" and finding the back springs on most GEC's a little stiff, I'm hoping the above guesses are correct. What say you, fellow BladeForumites? ;)

I very much doubt they'd put a halfstop on a lockback (at least I sure hope not), but the difficulty won't be in the blade action, but in how hard you have to press on the lockbar to unlock. I've seen many lockbacks that are a royal PITA to press down enough to unlock -- so hopefully, they'll tune that properly and not try to make it as much of a pain as their typical springs (I give this about a 50/50 chance).

I do find it amusing that they refer to a 3 7/8" closed knife as a "mini".

Nice, a smaller version for the pocket.I take it no half stops with a lockback I'm sure.

That's a sweet looking design.
It's going to be hard to choose which GEC to get come father's day.
