Ahem...
Sorry, scratch that '...no "China" Bucks for me!' I couldn't help it...I've been checking-out those model 728 Whitetail Deer Hunter Collectibles (
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/prod...type=21&dept=101851&path=0:101851:101868:4141) ever since before Christmas, I like how it looks, feels in my hand, etc. So, I was able to resist it until today.
The Buck 728's price has been reduced and reduced by Wal*Mart until it finally reached "the right price"...the place where the price overrode my dislike of where it was made. After all, one can't really tell how well a knife was made, depending only upon the longitude and latitude of where it was produced, so, I'm going to give this one a test run.
Now I have a 440C steel Buck without having to have been around to buy a Buck made back when they were using that steel in the U.S.A.

Time machines would be a nice invention, though.

What type of steel was used in a 1986 model 639 Fieldmate? Sorry that I don't know when Buck's changes in steel occurred, from the discarded files, way back when, until today.
