New Maglite

i'll wait and see if it stands the test of time. i have an old 4 D cell i bought the Maglite LED bulb for and it gets use around the house, but when i go out in the world, i stick to my Surefires.

I bought one from Bright Guy. It's a nice size, and if the interface worked it would be pretty cool. I suppose I could be dumb or autistic or something but after a week so far I got from bright to dim once, SOS mode once, and now I'm in nightlight mode that I can't get out of.

Weird now it's slowly going from bright to dim, before going out completly as it sits on my desk, touch it and it goes bright again.

It's totally F**cked!

Esav, I finally got some numbers for you. These are taken from the iTP boxes. There are three sizes of EOS flashlights: 1-123bat 1-AAbat 1-AAAbat.
model: A-1 A-2 A-3
low: 1.8 lm 150hrs 1.5 lm 60hrs 1.5 lm 50hrs
medium: 35 lm 8hrs 18 lm 7hrs 18 lm 4hrs
high: 190 lm 1.6hrs 80 lm 2hrs 80 lm 55min
The A-3 is available in Al, Ti, and SS. The Al weighs 13 gms. bare, the Ti 16.5 gms. bare. The Al A-3 runs about $20, the Ti A-3 about $45. You can reverse the clip on the A-3 and put it on the bill of your cap. This is a great little package.

I have often wondered why they are so far behind the curve...

Got to say I like the Maglite LED module in the D cell versions for simple, long runtime with more light than the original incan Maglite (using alkaline cells no less). It does what people want without all the extra lumens and battery issues. You can fit a spare in the tailcap too.

It's a good light, and probably the most advanced light currently offered by any manufacturer.

It is the first light to use motion control to access some of the light's functions. There are no moving switches other than click on/off. All brightness levels are manipulated by moving the light via wrist action.

Not quite true: the fliklite. http://www.dansdata.com/ledlights12.htm

Nonetheless, I agree it's still a very novel action, and good for maglite getting with the times! I try to buy US for things that matter, cuz as I tell people with my expensive knives, "If something fails and I get cut, there's someone I can sue and get compensation. Thus, the company makes sure it will not fail!"

Zero

I'm calling to see if I can return mine, nice idea, but the one I have is now non functional, OK it has one mode, on/off. That's it.

just another reason why i buy Surefire....these "new and fantastic" lights for half the price of a good Surefire ALWAYS end up like this.
