Just found this at (the place with the disposable tools we love) last weekend for under $2. It's 2" wide with 30 lbs. of pull, and the 3/32" gap between the magnet and the bottom holds a blade almost perfectly! Two of them and you can hold a blade very nicely while working on it.

I use that.

Got it from Harbor Freight and it sure comes in handy grinding

Yup. Got the smaller version of that baby and it's great. The only "problem" I've run into is having to place a bit of paper towel between the magnet and blade to keep the scratches at bay when moving into the finer grits. I'm thinking about dunking the magnet in some of that dip-on rubber stuff they sell for rehandling pliers and the like.

I just use a couple layers of blue painters tape on my magnet to prevent scratches. When it gets torn up a bit, I peel it off and reapply.

I also use the blue painters tape on that magnet.

I also tape the bubble jig with blue tape as well.

In fact that blue tape comes in handy almost everyday in the shop :)

Yep! The damn stuff may be $35.00 a sleeve at Home Depot, but boy does it come in handy!
