New Manix 2 FFG

My wife just bought me a new Spyderco Manix 2 FFG with S30V for Christmas, the blade appears to have almost a bead -blasted finish . I guess it could be a satin finish, but it's different than the old Manix 2. This knife was bought from Amazon, and not a 3rd party retailer. The finish is nothing like the finish on my Para 2, there's almost no machining lines, and the blade isn't reflective. Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine has exactly the same finish. I don't think it is satin, I'd rather go with the bead blast.

Do you think it is a fake or why are you asking?

No, I doubt it's fake, I have scrutinized some of the details. It's just strange to me, I would have preffered the normal finish instead. I was wondering if I may have gotten a defective knife. A couple of small quality issues with mine, but it's not uncommon, and it's not a $250.00 knife.

I like the finish, it's not usual for Spyderco but interesting.

The only thing that bugs me are the non skeletonized liners. That is unusual for Spyderco as well.
The rest of the knife is simply great. In my opinion the Manix 2 FFG is pure bang for the buck.

Yeah I like it overall the finish bothers me a little, because it fingerprints easily, and if you get a little oil on it, it makes it look weird.Mine is starting to smooth out. Mine also has a couple burrs on the front jimping, but I like it overall. Where did you buy your's?

I bought mine from a big ebay store. The price was unbeatable and shipping to Germany is a factor I have to consider as well.

Mine is very smooth. When I pull the lock back, the blade falls into the closing position without any push or movement of the hand. The blade is completely free an glass like when the lock is disengaged.

The finish on the edges of the liners is not good. The rest is great. But for a "cheaper" knife I can live with minor inaccuracies.

I currently own a FFG Manix 2 and I sold one last week. The one I kept has more of a bead blasted finish on the blade and a clear lock button. The one I sold, which I'm pretty sure was a later version had more of a stonewashed finish on the blade and a black lock button.

Here is a pic of mine. It has the black lock button.

Here are a few pictures of the one I kept. I only kept it because the other one was new in box and was in a little better shape. I also noticed the font on the one I kept was a little lighter color than the other, I assumed it was because of the blade finish.

Excuse the poor quality and the gross blanket:

I'm fairly confident it's not a fake though. The G10 quality and the sharpness of the edge are good enough to be Spyderco

I have one and dislike the finish on the blade . I guess they want to keep the price down . For the money one of the best knife you can get .

Stonewashed finish would be amazing, but I'm not picky when it comes to finishes. Especially at the Manix's price

Thanks for the pics guys! Yeah, I know it's not fake, I just thought maybe I got a defect or anomoly. I know it's a cheaper Spyderco, and you get a lot for your money, so maybe they have lowered the quality of the blade finish to keep the price down. I bought mine from Amazon, and not a third party retailer on Amazon. I have bought a few Spydies from Amazon, and never had an issue. I have also never heard of or seen a fake Manix 2. The jimping, etching, and pocket clip are fairly easy to tell apart from the fakes. Overall, I like the knife, but I don't like the weird, unfinished blade finish. The Spydie hole is finished , and so is the spine. It's also very sharp, and has an even edge.
I am sorry if I posted in the wrong place. I haven't been a member long, and I don't sign in very often.

I don't see what the fuss is all about. The Manix 2 FFG is advertised with a satin finish.
Maybe I'm missing something??

Also, mine has the black buttons, and has kind of a bare finish. It looks like stainless before it's finished. It's not polished, it has no grind lines, and it's just kind of flat grey, but not quite bead blasted. It literally looks like, the finish was just left bare. Also the laser etching on the blade, is that two-toned, kind of outlined etching, that the counterfeiters have never been able to match, along with the high-quality jimping, and the pocket clip is a dead match of my Para 2. The hardware is also the kind Spyderco uses, it's a real Spyderco, I can tell a fake pretty quickly, even the latest ones, have some subtle differences.

That finish looks a little like the finish of my older Manix 2. Mine looks like it has been tumbled in the ceramic stones like I've seen on TV for other manufacturing.

I personally prefer a satin machined finish like the Curwear Manix 2 has, but the tumbled finish is better than a bead-blasted finish. I've seen tumbled finishes that seemed overdone like my Kershaw Blur.
