New Manix - edge issues

I got a new Mini Manix for Christmas and I dented/chipped up the edge within 5 minutes of unwrapping it. My son got a large Star Wars toy for Christmas and wanted me to help open it. Well, rather than untwist the many many twist ties/tiny wires holding the toy to the package, I used my brand new Manix to cut the first one. It never occured to me that those little wires would be as tough as they are. Anybody else besides me think the S30V would have handled cutting this or am I crazy?

Edit, didn't realize it was wire that was being cut. Blade doesn't look too bad. Just sharpen out.

Its not what S30V does, you cut steel that's what happened.

Yeah personally I don't try to cut wire with a knife. I always go after those wire ties with an angle cutter or the wire cutter on my leatherman. If I don't have either of those handy I just untie them.

Yep, not too smart. I'll just sharpen it out. I didn't realize those were steel until after I cut the first one.

My wife did that to one of my blades a few Christmas' back. It wasn't S30V but cutting steel wire can do that.

It could have been worse actually. That should sharpen out nicely. Joe

Agreed. That's not much of a problem. It should sharpen out very nicely. It looks like the S30V actually held up pretty well to some cutting that's outside of it's designed use.
