I have 3 of these they are 1 1/2 hp @ 3450 rpm,
115/208-230 volts, continuse duty and enc. TEFC.
Asking $130 plus S/H.

IG how much do you think the shipping would be to get one of those all the way down here to Texas? By the way I got a lead on us some peppers this morning, will know in the next couple of days if it pans out.

I would guess around $30. I do not know if they have a flat rate box big enough.
Cool, with the peppers.

Jake,

My grinder motor is a (edit: 2 horsepower) hp 3450 rpm motor. I've heard 3450 is actally somehow easier on the motor. As for speed, it all depends on how you pulley it. If you run a direct drive, you'll need a smaller drive wheel. For the indirect drive on my KMG, I used a different size pulley sheave to get the belt speed down to where I wanted it.

I think these would work great as a grinder motor. I made an error in my original post...my motor is a 2hp, but the rpm is the same. With a step pulley setup, it would work great.

The TEFC motors rated for continuous duty are what you want for shop use. TEFC stands for totally enclosed fan cooled. No openings for dirt/dust/grit to get in. You may do some research and find what sheave to use on the motor shaft to get the range of belt speeds you want. The bigger the sheave, the faster the range on the step pulleys and vice versa.

I'll let IG answer for sure, but I'm pretty sure he said a 115/230 volt motor. As long as it's single phase, you should be good to go. Find out from IG to make certain it can be wired up correctly.

edit to add: looking at the spec plate picture, it appears it is a 115/230 volt single phase motor. It should be able to be directly wired up to a switch and power cord. It won't work for variable speed with a VFD if you decide to upgrade in the future as you need 3 phase motor for that.

I've got a 1.5HP Marathon very similar to that one on my grinder and it can be wired for either 115 or 230 VAC. Here's the connection diagram with the wiring schematic for low and high voltage (I think it's also on the label).

That is an excellent price. Cheaper than what I paid at Harbor Freight!

Hey, IG...you need all the help you can get :D.

Seriously though, if I hadn't bought a whole lot of other stuff just recently, I'll be picking up one of these myself. Looks to be a really good buy.
