New Marking Laser = BK2 With Full Flat Grind?

I'd prob buy a FFG BK2. I know i'm gonna buy a FFG BK16 eventually. I bought a sabre grind LE BK16 though & a BK15 & a BK17 for my daughter. I really pound on my knives sometimes & that little bit of extra steel gives me that little bit extra peace of mind while doing it.

I'd buy one in a hot second. I don't worry about my Becker blades breaking too much. Tough as hell, and awesome customer service.

the sabre grind in combination with this enormous thickness always kept me from buying a bk2 - since i was looking for a knife with better cutting abilities. i would like to see that fixed and i think i would go for a ffg version.

All of us know Ethan likes blade forward balance. This would make a more evenly balanced blade, maybe even some tip heavy still, but definitely, not as much as the bk2 has now. The result? A less effective chopper. Still a great idea!

i'm meh about it. but well. my examples of perfection are 20-25 years old :)

I had said in another thread, that I wonder from a practical standpoint, if an FFG BK2 would even be worth it. It would be interesting to see one done for sure. Makes me wonder what the grind would look like next to the ricasso.

Mine too....not sure what I like about those "20-25 year olds"....think thats the average age here:

I see this as a new beginning for the Becker family's drop point branch, if you have an FFG 2, 11, and 16, then they are all gonna be great at bushcraft, and probably baton through stuff easier, so you essentially get a small (11), medium (16), and a large (2), now, that being said, people are going to want to carry them as a set, so that means people like Skystorm will get busy on custom sheaths and new production sheaths. Now the only thing that's missing is a drop point FFG sword for those that like slicing watermelons in mid air while camping.

But honestly, people are gonna start raiding the Ka-Bar factory if every Becker starts getting laser etched, I know I will!

This.

Screw nessmuk Trios. We'll have a Becker trio.

Oh my goodness. I want a FFG, laser etched BK2. That would be awesome!
It was a question I had, after KA-BAR aquired the marking laser. I don't see it happening though, since the BK2 is the Becker big dog sales wise.

I think they should at least do like a BK-2F or something if they don't want to totally change it up. Seems it would be a huge seller.

I really want to like the bk2 but the thing is so stinking thick and heavy. I think a ffg version might be thin enough for me. Maybe.

It is indeed thick and heavy, but I love that damn thing. Mine's a little lighter:

Warrior,
I like it.
Good job, and I will state right now...I would be first in line to buy one. I love wide blades that have 1/4" spines and are FFG. Bottom line, the edge is mine at this point, and I can make it slice and cut equally as well. I had a similar knife by a custom maker a year ago...and I still hate myself for letting it go.

Well it's not FFG yet but it's getting there. 2 hours with 60 grit and a Black Diamond file and a lot of pent up sadness.

Man, that's turning out awesome. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Now this is really happening! I like the heft and weight of the beast as it is, its perfect. But just as the ESKABAR came out of this forum, who knows, if this turns out to be a good thing maybe we'll see some action. But I love the Beast just the way it is :)
