New Marksman 831BKS

Sounds great. Keep it simple but different. Different steel, colors, finish on the blade and so forth. Can be unique but easy enough for Buck to accommodate.

Fine knife, great Buck.
My EDC for some months now. I use it often in the kitchen and it gets rinsed with hot water.
Just wondering if the balls from the bearing will catch rust or are they stainless steel balls.
Have been oiling it lightly after rinsing though. Just wondering.

I find myself carrying my Marksman more than anything I have any more. It already displaced my 560 for every day carry long ago and I tried to do without it and carry a couple different 300s in my pocket recently but I find myself missing my marksman.

Curious how you were carrying your 560? I'm assuming a belt sheath? The 560 is a great knife.

I've looked at the Marksman a couple times now but I wish they made a small version too. It's just a bit longer than I care for in a pocket clipped knife. Even though I don't use a pocket clipped knife too often anymore I still like to pick one up now and then. Lol.

The locking system is pretty cool. Kinda like my Ti-Lock, but backwards. :)

I normally carried it in the canvas sheath ahead of my holster on my right side. Tried it on my left side and even horizontal in the small of my back. All worked okay, but my belt was a little crowded on my right side.

Probably a huge unstated issue with the 560 is that when I got it out to cut something it almost always felt offensive. Not that I was "offending" anyone with it, it's appearance, and the huge clip point blade were more tactical than utilitarian for the environment more often than not.

Funny as it might sound; the Marksman feels more pedestrian than the 560 merely because of the blade shape IMHO.

Psychological issue I guess, but whipping out a hunting knife to open a box was just a little overkill... lol

I've gotten so used to the Marksman that even when I'm in a casual environment It's my "go-to".

Hunting=560 for me anymore, but I reserve the right to change my mind...

Been really considering a Marksman lately as a work knife. Hows the strap lock while using gloves?

I've not used mine with heavy/winter gloves. I prefer a fixed blade because manipulating just about any folder with heavy gloves on is a pain for me. With mechanics gloves or leather with a decent hem on the sides of the fingers, I've not had any problems. Loose fitting gloves like plain ol' jersey gloves can be a pain though.

Thanks buddy. I actually use leather gloves at work so thats what I am referring to. Had to ditch a few of my knives for work because I had to take off my gloves before closing the knife, kind of a pain.
