Hi,

Thought I'd show pics of my new Mears/Alan Wood Woodlore.

I realize that there is much debate about the merit of these knives relative to their cost (i.e. a $10 Mora will also do the job), however considerations such as value and worth are very much subjective issues. This has been one of my grail knives, in part out of admiration for Ray Mears. I'm sooo happy to have been fortunate enough to have found it, and to be able to purchase it. :)

The handle is birdseye maple; I soaked it in Danish oil overnight and then buffed it with carnuba wax in order to keep it nicely sealed; it will be going on some hiking and snowshoeing trips this winter

i've looked everywhere on the net for one and only come across a few on ebay listed as a 1000 bux.

Wow! That's a beautiful knife I'm really impressed with the graceful yet simplistic functionality of that design. That handle is really beautiful. One of those has become a grail knife for me as well.

Now...you'll really impress me if you actually take it out and use it instead of "casing" it :)

you lucky dog.. that is a great looking knife... nice score.. :thumbup:they are definately hard to come by these days and when you do find them they're crazy expensive...:)

i think hes taking the knife hiking and snow shoeing in winter :D

good on ya walkabout, glad to see that it wont end up a safe queen :)

Very nice, can you make a shot of the spine (both blade and handle?)
I'm #71 on the waiting list - ETA end of 2010 ( so that will be 4 years in total on the list)

I had one but couldn't bring myself to use it so i sold it off. It was the best bushcraft blade I ever handled.

Very very nice. I have a couple of Ray's dvd's and everytime I watch one I want that knife! I hope you use and love it! :D

Well that one is the standard. Its nice to have an original like that to put all the rest of your blades in their place.
