Hello! I recently moved From Australia to Oregon (via work) and have retaken up my love of collecting knives. I had to leave most of my collection behind when moving. Not only do I collect, but I'm also a pretty regular and heavy user through work.

I just recently picked up two Beckers. The BK9 and the BK2, both of which I'm madly in love with.

I stripped the coating, added Micarta scales, and dyed them with my best attempt at an Oxblood Red.

Only disappointment so far was the BK9 sheath. I realize that's somewhat expected, however mine arrived pretty chewed up. Frayed and cut in odd places. Also the strap struggles to fit the circumference of the handle even when detached from the velcro. Can anyone suggest a better sheath? Not fussed, just after a usable sheath.

Thanks guys and excited to be here.

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here. The BK9, and BK2 should serve you well. The BK9 is my most used blade by miles.

Thanks so much. I'm really loving the BK9. Had a tree limb fall last week, and because I've just moved, lack tools. Was able to delimb and process the giant branch with the BK 9 without any hassles.

Was also really surprised at the slicing ability of the BK9. I had expected such a tough blade to be lackluster in that regard.

Nothing better than a worked knife. What sheath do you use? Any recommendations for the BK9? I actually didn't mind the Nylon supplied sheath, however it arrived chewed up? Not sure if that's common. I'm happy enough with the BK2 sheath for now (drilled the rivets holding the nylon loop, and added a teklok)

That's a great picture, where was that taken? Yeah loving the BK9. I work in the field, so generally carry it with a Baldric sling, and the BK2 on my hip, strong side. Best two purchases, since I've moved to the states, by far.

That was taken in the state of Iowa a couple winters ago. I should strip a couple more of my Beckers including the 9. It's got quite a bit more wear on it these days anyway.

I usually carry the 9 in my pack in a kydex sheath. I have a 2 also but it hasn't seen much use. I tend to use my BK15 or BK16 over the 2.

OP: Welcome. Nice job on the scales!

Not going to lie, with a branch that size I would bust out the chainsaw.

I'm in Oregon, fresh from Queensland, Australia, and stunned by the beauty. Can't wait for the winter months to see the landscape change.

awesome, and welcome to both the forum and the continent!

Thank you!
Did a little fit and finishing today on my BK9 and BK2 combo. Handles a little dulled, closer to what I wanted (oxblood red), and a little finishing on the blades.

Also reprofiled the BK2's edge, so it's a little handier on my hip and shaving sharp as most of my chopping has been handled by the BK9 without issue.

This has been my first foray into American knives, and I'm blown away. Super easy to sharpen, tough tough steel. I'm super impressed.

That's what I love about 1095CV. Takes a good edge, and lasts quite some time. Not to mention easy to sharpen in the field. Here's a photo of my BK4, stressing a bit while batonning:
