That's what I love about 1095CV. Takes a good edge, and lasts quite some time. Not to mention easy to sharpen in the field. Here's a photo of my BK4, stressing a bit while batonning:

Man you aren't wrong. Edge retention is inpressive. I'm used to sharpening a lot more frequently. Nice photo too. That's one thick block of wood.

I watched the Kabar documentary last night too, which was killer and made me appreciate the steel and choices even more.

Log I was batonning had a big ol knot in it, haha.

Nice man. Where did you go?

Also today I ordered a Work Sharp, Ken Onion Edition, after reading about it many times on the forums, arrives tomorrow.

I've only ever sharpened blades by hand on stones. Sorta excited, sorta Intimidated. Anything I need to know beyond the instruction manual?

So, my Work Sharp, Ken Onion Edition arrived today...... holy cow..... God Bless America and God Bless Ken Onion.

What the heck, this thing is a cheat code. I wish my Grandfather, who slaved over his blade collection on India stones for hours was alive to see this.

Absolutely incredible, hair popping sharp, any angle you want..... or desire. I am blown away and honestly stunned. 😳

I also recommend azwelke.com for kydex sheaths.

If you like leather, you may want to check out Hedgehogleatherworks.com

Hey, welcome N Navaro27 !
You got a couple winners there.
Glad you like the Worksharp. I still need one. I’ve worked with the Spyderco Sharpmaker (with diamond rods) for years now and have been happy. I also use a cheap 10x30 belt sander for convex edges, followed by the old sandpaper and mouse pad technique.

Welcome to the forums!
Oregon, man you should check out the gathering in November. Good times!

Thank you!

Agreed with the 10x30 Belt. I used to have all that good stuff in Australia, but since moving have had to start all over again. The work sharp has been a great purchase though. I'm still convincing the wife, haha. Was able to put some phenomenal edges on the Bk9 and Bk2.

Definitely interested in checking out the meeting in November. Would need to do some shopping though first. I arrived here with next to nothing.

With much respect to this community, wanted to say hello for the first time here. I have followed this forum for many years and never got to share a message. Until now. I have finally got the ticket – the BK16! I was blown away how good it looked when I first saw it in the flesh. I had a blast with it in my local wilderness. I will probably never understand why I waited this long before getting one.
