Ok, I was lucky enough to find a 3 line 124 yesterday at my honey hole with laminated birch wood handles . This knife is unused and the sheath has no scratches on it, never been carried, snoopy style with two rivets in the belt loop, so it cannot swivel . What year mfg. and what is the blade steel ? Thanks . DM

David, congrats, wish there were more honey holes here:D.

The dates on yours(if I read the sheet correctly) would be between 1980-1985, if 80 - early 81 the steel would be 440C after that 425M.

I understand that you can't post pic??? Preston

PJ, Thanks . I've since found a 124 article in the Dec. 2006 issue (JB may have stated the reference) which states laminated birch was first introduced as handle material in Dec. 1982 on 124's . So, the blade steel is probably 425M . DM

Very good knives.
I can dream only of such knifes in Russia.
All of them are a cold steel, each of them is necessary for certificating.
