Dear Traditional Fellows!
I've had a relatively short journey in the knife world, but I really enjoy listening and learning about them on Youtube. I started with the typical modern big brand names and super steels, but soon discovered my passion for traditionals so I got rid of my moderns and began collecting traditional slip joints.
I value and appreciate hand craftsmanship, as well as the ability to transform steel and raw material into functional tools and art form. Super steels and modern design and innovations are cool also, but a traditional slip joint offers the warmth, familiarity, and cultural/community that can be felt and nurtured. An old school carbon steel also patinas and develops a personality with me, which is I find very romantic.
I would like to share my very modest collection with you. This is the Gen Pop collection:
And this is my Coca Cola collection:
Truth is, i can't really bring myself to use any of them. I just enjoy looking at them and wiping them down. I daily carry a GEC #15 as my only knife and I'm perfectly happy with it.
I love reading your threads and learning from you. I'm glad to be a part of this community. Nice to meet you all!
