Hey, this is my first post here and I was wondering if you guys could help me choose an affordable knife with a manual flipper. I am looking for a reliable knife with good flipping action. I have done some searches here and have got some ideas but haven't been able to make a decision. My price range is around $30-$55.
Here are some I was thinking about:
Kershaw Junkyard Dog 2 blem
CRKT Tighe Coon
CRKT Eraser
Kershaw Skyline
I am also looking for other suggestions.

Thanks

The kershaw cryo and cryo II are nice and very affordable rick hinderer designs. You could pic up any of the kershaw/onion collaborations like the leek, shallot or scallion for pretty close to your price range. The k/onions are assisted open as well as being flippers, though. The Gerber evo line is cheap, alright for a beater knife and fun to flip, as well as the CRKT M16 line up, same category as the evos but better quality. There's a lot out there, Kershaw has the best reputation for making good quality knives at great prices and a decent selection of flippers.

There are two that come to mind and I've worked with many for the last few years. The Kershaw JYD is probably my favorite for a smooth affordable flipper that can handle about anything. But I will say, you won't forget your carrying it. It's a bit bulky and fairly heavy. I prefer to carry it in a belt sheath.
The next one that came to mind is the Buck Vantage Force select. It also flips easily, has no blade play and is razor sharp. It opens with a nice Thwack. It is light and thin and you'll forget your carrying it. I'll try and ad a link below for the Vantage.

The Junkyard Dog 2 is an amazing flipper. Out of all the ones you have listed I would pick it. My only real complaint is the bead blast blade. Since mine is a blem though I took some mothers mag polish with some sandpaper and fixed that. Personally I really like the look of the blade that way. A lot of people have mixed feelings on the clip but after I got it and carried it a while I dont mind it at all. If you are looking for a bigger, beefier blade I would go with this one hands down.

The Skyline is the other good option but I will say on all the ones I have owned/used the flipping action isnt as smooth. To me it seems to take a little more flip to open than some others. But then again for its price point it is a fantastic knife and there are several options you have, regular, blackwash, or brown handle/black blade. If you want a smaller, lighter edc option I would go with this one.

The Kershaw Zing is also manual if I remember correctly but they are discontinued. Kershaw guy has some of the black tanto ones if you dont mind tanto blades.

Do you know what size you are looking to get?

Completely forgot, kershaw is also coming out with a couple of new flippers that look excellent, msrp on them is $60.00, so you should be able to get one for around $40-50 from any of the online retailers (reputable) if not cheaper. Bladehq has pictures of them with specs. They are called the nura and the strobe. They'll have the kvt ball bearing system, same as on the zero tolerance knives. Also coming out with a stonewashed g10 cryo, also msrp at $60.00

Another vote for the Kershaw Zing 1735. KershawGuy has the tanto for a great price. Check on that auction site too. Mind you there is a stainless model, 1730, which is not manual. 1735 is a USA made model, the 1730 is not. Junk Yard Dog is also a great flipper, just depends on what size knife you are looking for.

The Ken Onion designed kershaws, leek, shallot, scallion, and chive can't be de-assisted, they have a detent ball but no detent hole. :)

Out of the ones listed I would say skyline and a bottle of nano oil, it really improves the action.

Thanks for the correction 9blades. Do you know if you could disable a torsion bar on a cryo without compromising its functionality?
