Hello everyone, Im a new member and new to bladesmithing and blacksmithing. i built a break drum forge about 2 years ago (currently designing a more suitable forge) got a few files and a fork lift tines for anvil from the scrap yard and thats pretty much how it started. Eventual i got a small anvil 42 pound fisher from the same scrap yard, still waiting for a bigger one to find me but its better than nothing and started using mostly 1084 but still enjoy using junk yard/found steel. I live in south shore mass and have been metal detecting for a few years and remembered finding a few large wagon wheels bands that ended up being wrought iron. I used up the last of it the other day so i went back out a grabed another one and picked up the axle and one set of leafs srpings wile i was there. I did the bend test on the leaf spring and it broke like the wrought iron wheel bands but not quite as fibrous. I then did the spark test and it was completely different from the wrough iron. i took some pictures of both test but have no idea how to add them any info on this would be appreciated.
