And yes i really wear them;).
A lot of local people over here still wear wooden shoes in there free time.
I wear them around the house working in the yard.

And Piet, you have to wear your cloggs so they get an nice "patina look":D

Come on, the tourists don't get here.
And the few that do, don't pay enough.
On Sundays everything here is closed so I can't blame them.
Werkendam really is the end of the world .
If you go any further, you just fall off, just like the old vikings believed.

You guys really wear wooden clogs? How is that comfortable?

Oh, and very nice knives. I hope to get an OD Green Izula and a RC4 sometime soon. :D

Do you have any words as to the Izula's performance?

You guys really wear wooden clogs? How is that comfortable?

Some do, I have friends that ride a motorcycle with them, no problem.
The normal ones don't work for me but there is also a type that has the top more open and have a leather band instead.

That would be my choice.
They are very handy around the house, garden and such.
And off course it is part of our national heritage and it is also something that city folks can't understand.
So there is some mild pride in wearing them.

I used to wear them especially in the winters.
If you match them with some wool socks you'll never get cold feet ;)

Btw, it saved my foot once, when a horse kicked me on the foot, got a little crack in the clog but my foot was perfectly fine.

Are they comfortable? They sure dont look like they would be... but then I have never had an opportunity to wear wooden shoes. :)

I just want to congratulate you guys for keeping your traditions! It's a great shame to let them get lost. Nice knives and beautiful pics!

The clogs are used as working shoes in some types of jobs.
They are recently certified as safety "shoes"
Have been the working shoes for over a long time but had to be CE certified with the European legislations.

Bricklayers, road makers, farmers, etc wear them as their daily work shoes.

Clogs are not very tactical because they make lots of noise.

:D
They are very easy en quick to put on and of.
Its not done to wear the clogs inside houses/stores/offices;).
Most people wil put there clogs off when driving their car/truck/tractor/cranes.

I think they are easy to wear but they are no nikes:D.
There are lots of pros wearing them but of course a lot of cons also.

Joel, welcome to the nut house.

like the bacon addicts anonymous! wooden shoes.............not so much actually.

I like the Dutch folks I have met. Jeff and I took a crew from Netherlands down to Peru a while back to film one of the the "Try Before You Die" episodes for BNN. Nothing bothered those guys. I believe they could go anywhere and do well. We just need a really good dealer there to sell lots of RAT Cutlery knives to you at a good price.:) Mike

Bnn has some very nice episodes about all sort of topics:thumbup:.
They also did an episode of the jungla's.I think the same as were you have been.Maybe you mean that one?

They have been to Rio to go to the drugsgangs and go all over the world to report about this sort of topics.

They really cover all things and i like them;).

I have found the episode of Bnn with Jeff and Mike in the jungle:D.

You can look at the episode at this link.

http://player.omroep.nl/?aflID=8081547&kanaal=tvopjepc.nl

The jungle broadcast can be seen on this time slip:
5.30- 9.55
14.00-17.50
26.34-30.40
33.45-38.15

Ok its mostly in Dutch.
And the other parts of the whole episode are world record bra opening and some other strange stuff but thats what this Try before you tie is all about:p.Doing strange things.

It was the Dutch guy 1st job at Bnn and was sent to the jungle:thumbup:.
