New member, one post - registered in 2008?

HI - this is just a low-pri question.

I notice that some member accounts show up with one recent post, a post count of 1, yet the registration date is 10 or more years old -

For instance - this recent trolling post from a 1 post member who, if you believe the software, registered the account in 2008.

Are these the result of a spam/script registration or do these people REALLY register and sit on the sidelines, waiting for their chance to strike?
