New Member - Question on knifemaking course

Hello all,

After several months of lurking on this site, and reading several books on the subject, I've decided to attempt making my first knife. I found a week long course offered at he Haliburton School of Fine Arts in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. My wife found their web site while doing a search on the net. It seems a good value (particularly with the present exchange rate). The idea of "getting away" to pursue the first one seems to make sense. This is a beginner's knifemakers course, so I assume stock removal will be all we will pursue.

Have any of you had any experience with this course? Do any of you have any suggestions on how to get the most out of the course?

Thanks.

Just ask lots of question, thats the only way to learn. We ask here all the time. Be clear headed and open-minded to new ideas. If you think someones ideas are wrong you are not going to understand what there saying.Let us know what you learned so everyone can share the knowledge!

You might want to check out The Bill Moran School Of Bladesmithing. They offer classes in basic knifemaking through making folders and engraving. Most cost $550.00 for 5 days.
The contact is Scotty Hayes (903) 838-4541 ext. 237. I got this out of Blade magazine.
