Just a quick intro and a howdy --

Middle-aged guy with a great family and too many hobbies.

Happened to be browsing the internet a month ago and thought it would be nice to have a gentleman's pocket knife. Google led me here.

After reading and thinking about the options, I bought a Buck 503. Great knife, easy/unobtrusive to carry, good-looking, sharp as heck. Thought that would be sufficient.

But no. Saw some great photos of Al Mar folders, and lo and behold one of those was delivered a few days later -- a Hawk with smoked MOP.

You'd think that would be enough to keep a guy happy, right? Wrong.

Soon I had a couple of GECs on the way. Absolutely blew me away with the quality.

So then I ordered a couple more GECs that were every bit as nice as the first two.

Someone posted a great shot of the Ka-bar Coppersmith barlow, so of course I had no choice but to order one. Very nice, but maybe too thick -- I seem to prefer single-blade folders.

Then I saw a pic on here of someone's Canal Street Half Moon collection -- wow! So I had to order a couple of those, they'll be delivered tomorrow.

Now I think I need an Moki in quince wood to keep the Al Mar company.

Oh, and I also have a couple more GECs on the way, did I mention that?

Fortunately this is all far less expensive that some of the other hobbies I've been bitten by -- watches, guns, fountain pens, etc.

Anyways, happy to be here and look forward to participating. And I will post pics soon -- that's part of the fun!

Is that perfume you are wearing? Smells nice! ;)

I had no idea fountain pens could be so expensive!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome Dan!! I share your fountain pen addiction, although I will say, it is under complete control. Sold off most of my collection to a reasonable 10 users. May be headed in the same direction with traditional pocket knives soon, but this will remain the finest place to look & discuss anything slippy....welcome again!

Good to have you here, Dan - Welcome! One thing you must know, though - we really like our pics (and our GEC's!):

That's what we all believed when we started knife collecting. It becomes a disease. Fortunately and/or unfortunately you live in Utah, coincidently so does Jared Oeser. Check out his knives, you'll be hooked.
