A few years ago I received a boxed set of Schrade Knives in a brown wooden box. There are five knives in the box and each blade has the inscription "100th 1904-2004 SCHRADE on it,It also has a small picture of the American flag in the box. I am curious if this set has any value and what the value might be. Thanks

i dont know the value but i would be interested in seeing a pic if you had one, i have only seen single 100th Aniv. blades

Welcome to BladeForums!

As you may know, Schrade went bankrupt on their 100th anniversary in 2004 and within minutes (figuratively) 'new' Schrade knives were being imported by Taylor Brands LLC; Taylor had purchased the Schrade names at the bankrupcy auction.

Adding to the confusion over Schrade and Taylor products, the market was flooded with anniversary knives from both companies. There were even some sneaky attempts to disguise Taylor-Schrades as originals. And at the same time all sorts of rare collectibles were being sold from the old factory, and employees were assembling knives until the last minute out of anything they could: unfinished knives, mis-matched parts...

My point, in order for anyone to know what sort of knives you have, you're going to have to post a photo. An overall photo of the set and a closeup of an individual knife would be quite helpful.

p.s. Be sure to check out the Schrade Collectors sub-section here at Bladeforums. If those guys don't know about your knife set...

Hey Bob: Thanks for the reply. I am 70 years old and just now getting into this puter using. I have learned how to send a picture by scanning but not how to send a photo. I have been told by a guy who is tutoring me that I am going to have to get a better digital camera to get any clarity on sending photos. I am looking at a 12mgp camera now and as soon as I get one I will do as you suggest. Thanks for the post. As an aside, I worked for a company nuts and bolts company that gave these Schrade knives away to the best buying customers. My boss gave me the set that I am asking about in the early part of 2004. I will send photos as soon as I get the how-to. Allen Phillips

Bob:

I have bought a new camera and I am trying to post pictures of the knives and the box but I am having trouble in doing so. The board is asking for a url link and I am not sure how to respond. If you have the time can you post the steps I shhould use to post the pictures. Thanks

Allen, you will need to find a 'hosting' service such as Photobucket to upload your pictures to first. Once uploaded, hovering over the image in Photobucket will provide you with a 'Direct Link' that you can insert to the forums.

Hi Allen. Like APF recommends, I also use photobucket. It's free to sign up and easy to use.
1) create photobucket account
2) upload pictures to photobucket
3) insert link of photobucket location into Bladeforums post.

Or feel free to e-mail me your Schrade photos. I'd be happy to keep them in my photobucket account temporarily and post them here for you.
