Hello forum. New member here. Been making knives for about 5 months now. Was doing stock removal until I forged my first knife a month ago, I'm hooked. Just finished building my forge (copied one of Ed Caffreys, great guy!) and found an anvil so am set for now.

good for you...i don't want to start a holy war but i personally prefer forging to stock removal...both have advantages and disadvantages...but i'm a old time kind of guy(but still basically a kid)...keep it up and let us know of your progress.

where can i purchase some of this "free time"? haven't heard of such a thing in a long time, haven't watched a movie in even longer. hey speaking of knives, i refinished a 60yr. old buck knife.

Welcome Jon! Another Montana knife nut?!, must be something in the water up there!(when it thaws!) anyways, did Ed Caffrey mention that beatin' on hot steel can become highly addictive, with no known cure? especially when ya get to foolin with damascus...Enjoy your new hobby, its something that you will find challenging, fun, exciting, sometimes frustrating, but you will be hard pressed to find a more rewarding way of expressing your creative talents, as a bonus you'll meet some of the nicest people around... fellow knife nuts!
