Hello,
Just ordered my first Kukris. I'm an elementary art teacher K-5 and I own a small vinyl graphics business I run on the side in the evenings and during the summer.

Not into martial arts, or survival type stuff, but I bowhunt three months a year and the WWII and BAS should be good companions.

Anyone interested in a few gamepics I have taken with some homade motion activated cameras can find the albums here:

Look forward to visiting here.

Jotto--Welcome to the Cantina! :) Sounds like you've made some great choices for your first khukuris. Both the WWII and BAS are great all-around blades. Let us know how you like them once they arrive.

Well, Jojo, if you ever fill extra water containers while driving through the desert, or keep a sleeping bag handy while touring through Montana in the Fall, then you're into survival stuff.

The BAS and 16" WWll are great starting blades. They're even great finishing blades..though I doubt they'll be your last.

Munk,
Well, by that definition if you looked in the back of my dodge, you would think I was a survival NUT.

A dodge...sniff..brings back memories. Load the boys in, and the high step jack, the low jack, the tow strap, the extra coats, water, tools, two by fours, snake bite kit, canned goods and a few other sundry items and you have.... a mess.

Welcome, Otto! Stick around awhile, teach us a thing or two.

Welcome, Otto:)

Those are some great blade you've picked out. Of course if you're anything like me you'll buy a blade of two for a specific camping trip and end up buying 5 or 6 more for the same trip;) I can only take 2 max with me, but it is the bittersweet agony of choosing which of your "children" you'll be taking along;) Glad to have you in the cantina. There is nothing more nobel or underappreciate than a teacher.

p.s. I once had a ferret named Otto. neat little critter until the neighbor dog ate him:( but i digress;)

Jake,
Interesting....the neighbor dog tried to eat me one time.....I miss him.

Welcome to the cantina, Jotto. The BAS and WWII's are my favorite smaller- to mid-sized khuks. You won't be disappointed.

You know it is funny how you never know where you will end up. This is a great site and I'm glad I found it.
A couple weeks ago, I did a vinyl graphics job on a guy's trailer. He builds custom longbows and carries assorted outdoors merchandise. He gave me a knife as partial payment on the job. Said it was worth about 80$. I took it home and found a similar knife on the internet. It is a BRKT Mountaineer II with finger grooves. I found out that the guy that makes it used to own BlackJack Knives and I found a picture of another knife I own. A Blackjack No. 5. It has seen some hard use and the sheath was in poor condition. I asked a few guys if they could recommend someone to make a nice sheath. One guy told me to find someone to make a Kydex or Concealex sheath. Instead, I ordered the materials and made one myself. I researched how to do it on the internet and while searching for info, I came across this guy named Pendentive making a huge leather covered kydex sheath for a Kukri. I didn't know what a Kukri was, but I do now. As soon as I saw it I said, "I gotta have me one of those." And that is how I found this forum. I have read through just about everything on HI's website, I have checked out a few other sites, and I have read about a thousand posts here. HI seemed to have the best reputation and service so here I am. I probably will only buy these two....one for each hand.

There's a lot of similar stories for how one arrived.... does this mean though, that Lucky has been served in a Chinese Restaurant? MooGoo dog pan?

or.....The worst dog I've ever had :barf:

As Mel said in "The patriot"...."Dog is a fine meal."
You really have to know your way around the kitchen though.

Now before any pooch huggers jump me....I have never knowingly eaten a dog. I own a couple registered rat terriers and have never once thought about how they would taste. Well....never is a strong word.
