I own a couple registered rat terriers
Welcome to the Cantina Otto!:D

Anyone that owns a Rattie can't be bad, mine ain't a fullblood, but neither am I.
We wouldn't trade him for the world. My daughter who is our vet says Ace is at least 3/4 Rattie, we rescued him from a shelter.
Ace is now an edgeycated dawg. Ace can sit, heel, down, setup, rolloever, etc. I'm trying to teach him to shake now, but he resents getting throwed into the tub full of water to learn. :footinmou  :D ;)

Yvsa,
Those rats are great dogs...good with the kids. My daughters each have one. We have to put them in the pen when other kids are around. Anyone gets to close to the girls and look out.

HI seemed to have the best reputation and service so here I am. I probably will only buy these two (khuks)....one for each hand.

Sure you will, Jotto, sure you will.

That's how most of us here started out. ;)

It's funny how there's good dogs and bad dogs, and regular dogs that aren't particularly either. Just like people. Most of the time look to the owner and you'll see what kind of dog they'll have. Sometimes though the dog is just plain bad despite the best intentions of the owners.

And like people, sometimes when otherwise good dogs get together they can go on rampages and terrorize an area.

You mean like if there was a bunch of munks in one forum?

Welcome to the Cantina ( named after the bar scene in an "obscure science fiction film" - Star Wars ). The folks here kinda resemble that scene, but not to worry. Well, not too much. I guess. ;)

I'm the only munk I'm aware of. I'm no longer certain of what a munk is, let alone if they run in packs.

I thought that Chip Munks and Fish Friars hung out together.

The Chip Munk- a pretty messy, diseased beast. Really, a tree rat with extra fur. Might be better than a squirrel though. Male squirrels bite the testes off rival males-put that in your cartoons, Disney!

But I'm strictly a lower case munk.

My kukes came today, but I wasn't home to sign for them and that really pi$$es me off. Have to wait until tomorrow now.

Yes, apparently Chip wears the pants in the family now. But it's OK- they've retired to San Francisco.

I got my two kukris today....already have a favorite. I like the WWII much more than the BAS. They were both very nice. The BAS says L.B. The WWII says S.B. The WWII was very sharp and I could find nothing wrong with it aside from a small scratch on the brass bolster. The BAS had a crack in the horn on the back.top of the handle behind the spine of the blade. Fixed that. The BAS was sharp at the tip and handle, but butterknife dull in the heat-treated section. That is by far the toughest sharpening job I have ever done. About an hour and a half. Every time I checked the edge I could see the flat and it didn't appear to get narrower for a long time. I used the steepest angle my lansky would permit. It will shave along the entire length now. It will belong to my father as of tomorrow. He turns 65 tomorrow. I'm keeping the WWII and my next will probably be a Chiruwa Ank Ghola. Oh Wait, I'm not buying anymore.....but I do have a free hand.

Thanks Uncle Bill,

Otto

That's great, Otto!

You sharpened a khukuri on your lansky?!? I can see why it took so long. Congrats on getting it sharp, though. Now put it work and tell us all about it. :D

What is the best way to put a good edge on a really dull kukri? I used a Coarse stone in the 20 slot on the lansky until I had a nice cut almost to the edge. Then I used the medium at 25 until the angles nearly met. Then I went to 30 and finished it up. Then I ran it up and down a leather strop and I mean to tell you....this thing is scary sharp.

Otto

sounds like you got a good system going. Now just keep it well maintained.
