Any of you Becker heads put the new micarta handles on a Becker yet? I haven't found a more ergonomic handle on a knife yet, but I have always felt the ballistic polymer to be slippery. I would hope the micarta solves that problem. If any of you didn't know about the new handles, they are available through the Kabar website for $40.

Never had a problem with them being slippery but I got some micarta handles anyways...

they do have more grip then the grivory.

did you get those today flexxx? sure do look sweet

I've had my micarta on other knives get slippery when wet as will about anything, of course I'd imagine that grivory would be more slippery......when wet

I did UPS just dropped them off, they were suppose to be here Tomorrow....

They look good man, really good. That polished blade looks mighty fine too though.

Thanks for the compliments.

This might of been asked before but has anyone ever tryed to seal there micarta handle?

I'm thinking about buffing them and putting a Trondak U-40 corkseal on them....

if you seal them they're gonna lose some grip.. you could stain them, that will seal them but still allow them to be porous by nature as it penetrates opposed to laying on the surface.

They should be pretty well sealed because of the resin binding all the layers together, You might get some discoloration on the fuzzy top layer, that should be it.

Thanks for the welcome. If I decide to keep my Beckers (2&7), I'm going micarta on both.

Good call. Keep the Grivory though, you may want to try your hand at modding.

So I added a little bit of U-40 Corkseal and they came out pretty nice, they almost have a wet look and nothing has changed on the feel of the material.

Dont know if my camera shows the difference or not...

The U-40 is what I use on my fishing rods (CORK) it keeps them looking good and they are waterproof plus won't stain.......

I have micarta on my BK2 and BK3. Much for comfortable in my hands than the grivory. My BK3 spent the night in a puddle last week and the micarta didn't soak up anything. Wiped it off with a rag and it was dry as a bone.

the U-40 didn't go deep but I did notice when I got my hands wet and picked up my BK it left wet marks, almost like it would be able to take a little amount of water into it, now it beeds off.....

I put the micarta handles on my BK2 almost immediately after I bought it. They do provide better grip (or at least the PERCEPTION of better grip), but I really love them for the great look it gives my BK2. Good luck!

I like the hand filling grip, and mine got better after some sweat, blade oil, and general crud from use got on them.
