New Micarta Handles on a Becker?

I don't think anything beats micarta in looks or performance. These Becker grips look sweat and everyone knows how they will perform in the field. I guess it's really a no-brainer.

They also weigh more then then the grivory, in return you will get a better balanced knife IMO.....

Thanks for the compliments.

This might of been asked before but has anyone ever tryed to seal there micarta handle?

I'm thinking about buffing them and putting a Trondak U-40 corkseal on them....

No need to seal micarta it's non absorbent, it will wick a small amount of water into the exposed fiber on the surface but that will evaporate in minutes.

To darken or intensify the color wet sand them with progressively finer grits of wet/dry sand paper. The grips in the pic look like they were sanded to abour a 220 grit finish, try 320 see how they look and feel and go further if needed. After 600 grit go to the buffer. If you go beyond 600 grit you will lose most of the grippiness when wet but you will get the most intense color.

Remember also Natural or brown micarta will darken with age due to UV exposure and become a deep rich brown. 5 or 6 months is all it takes

When Micarta grips get dingy and dark from dirt and oils from your hands you can just clean them with dish soap and the scothbrite kitchen sponge you use for dishes

I love my micarta grips. The major bonus is that you can shape them to fit you perfectly (if you have bear paws with shorter fingers like I do)...

I've got micarta on two of my Beckers and I love 'em. I don't have anything against the grivory though, I just wanted the micarta.

I keep the grivory around though, just in case I feel like changing them out...
