New Micarta Scales on my BK2

Man these things feel great! I put them on the BK9 first, but they feel better on my BK2 for some reason. The scales are very grippy and feel like they will stick to your hand no matter what. I thought I read that people here had to go buy new screws when they put the scales on the BK2 because the BK2 was too thick. I didnt have that problem...

The hole for the nuts are a VERY tight fit so I got out my punch set and made sure they got seated all the way down in the scale. I will also say that the scales are much more of a tan color rather than a green. In my last pic I put my D2 foliage green Para and yellow Atlantic Salt next to the scales to give you guys an idea of the color.

Oh, I like those. Lookin' good, rmc85. My BK-2 is nagging me now, saying "dress me daddy, dress me."

I have a bunch of the old style micarta, but I'm going to have to try a set of these new ones from Kabar.

You know, I thought the stock handles on my BK9 were just fine....but every time I see a new micarta handled becker...my buying finger twitches a little bit more....:D Good stuff .

i like the original handles just fine myself, though i might swap in a set of micarta (new or old :>) just for giggles now and then.

I'm with Bladite on this: I like the original Grivory scales just fine. I'd like to try a set of the new micarta scales, but I like the Grivory. Most comfortable handles I've ever used.

Once you get a pair of the micartas you wont want to go back. I took the BK2 out to my friends deer camp with me this past weekend and the micartas just work better. I did everything from cutting bags of corn open to clearing the trail(s) and never had any issues.

No need to worry about getting sweaty hands and losing your grip with the micartas. In FL when your outside for 8 hours working you are going to be drenched...that seals the deal for me.

If I get some time this weekend I'll do some side by side shots to compare the scales.

And tell us about the feel, too, please. We know that the micarta scales look good, but how much do they improve the grip? Are they worth the $$$?

Well the feel is kind of hard to put in words. They feel kind of like a grippy thick canvas sheet. They soak up the sweat from your hands to an extent, but return to their normal dry state rather quickly.

When looking really, really, really close at the grips you can see that it gets its grip from the threads being woven together (looks juts like ballistic paneling is done).

In accordance with my vow to succumb to peer pressure on BF whenever possible, I just ordered a BK2 with micarta scales from NG.
