New Mini Skirmish

I don't think it's possible to sharpen recurves evenly on benchstones, or, at least it won't turn out nice. The skirmish and mini-skirmish edge need to be reprofiled - I find them too obtuse. I had mine reprofiled by a knifemaker so that it's now sharp!!!!

You can reprofile most any knife fairly easily on the Sharpmaker without the expense of the diamond stones by purchasing the coarse grits in wet/dry sandpaper with the adhesive backing. Just form it to the hones and you can maintain the edges and the flats for honing without gunking up the hones and it's alot cheaper than the diamond hones.

Spyken- Thanks, I plan on reprofiling the edge down to around at LEAST 15/20 or maybe less, depending on what I can get away with!

Native Justice- Thanks for the tip, but Im ordering a sharpmaker and a set of diamond stones for it on wednesday (I've got money set aside for it) I figure if the system is good I'll use em for a LONG time. :)

Okay, I'll be posting some pics and info later when I have time but here's the low down.

Came brand new in box, blade PERFECTLY centered, opens and closes like silk w/ just a slight flick of the wrist, and does NOT hit any spacers in the grip (I dont know why but I was worried about that). The factory edge is not sharp at all compared to ... well anything, but still managed to cut easily through my USPS mail envelope in one swipe.... but really, its not sharp. I'll be reprofiling it soon..... I bet she gets REAL sharp. :)

...more to come...

Nice knife, and REALLY nice Glock. I really want a longslide conversion for my G20, but I think the wife would beat me with it if I ordered it now.

She probably would .... its an expensive conversion. Luckily I wasn't married yet at the time that I purchased it. :)

That is indeed a nice trio. I love guns, knives, and cats. My goal is to get a lynx or cougar some time. Just to piss off the neighbours and kill small children.

Thanks guys (or gals)... I used to never like cats before I got Gabriel (but I've liked guns and knives since I was a tiny fetus). According to his papers, Gabriel is a gray-tipped Siamese... a good friend had to get rid of him so I took him (can you guess why?) :) Probably the most gorgeous cat I've ever laid eyes on. Hers's another pic, just because I can....

Oh for sure. :D

But that is indeed a very beautiful cat. I also really like the longslide conversion on the glock. I am not usually a big fan of polymer guns (perfering oldfashioned 1911's). But it has a great Look to it, and im sure the accuraccy has improved greatly as a result.

Keep it in good health

And by the way, Your now a knife Knut congratualtions:thumbup:

I'm actually a 1911 man at heart, too... My problem is that I wanted..er...NEEDED a longslide 10mm and couldnt afford the 6" 1911 I wanted ($2.5-3k) so I settled for this conversion ($1.5k total). Since I went with an oversized hand fitted BarSto, the gun is scary accurate. Also, since the sight radius is 28% longer, its also EASIER to shoot accurately.

I do own a few cheap knives and also own a SOG NW Ranger in addition to my BM 635, but have never REALLY been into knives until the last couple of months, so I'm new to this forum (unlike GlockTlk and others).

Cool forum!

Well then welcome to our madness.

My personal recommendatio nto you would be to get afixed blade by this guy:

http://www.rangerknives.com/

IMHO a great starting place for the hand made knife market. Mor ethan a great bargain.

i am going into the military shortly so im on a heavy duty knife kick.

Im a big fan of Busse, Strider, Chris reeve, and Ranger knives.

Knife buying can be confusing at times (so many knives so little funds) but you wont need any help figuring out what you like. People like to tout their personal veiws on this forum but pay them no heed. If you like it get it.

I think you will have a bright future as a knife knut.:D

Get hi caps for the Glock!
Spyken, you couldn't reprofile that on the edge pro with a diamond stick or something?

I have several hi caps for it, but in a hunting picture, I figured I'd use the 10 rounders since I have to use them when hunting in MO.

edgepro can't reprofile recurves nicely. but Tom Krein's got my back covered for my sharpening needs....
