New Mnandi 2002 Exclusive Edition

Very interesting piece. I think they had few pieces of Black Ash burl And did a short run. Could be interesting to know how many Mnandi were done

Does anyone know anything else about these? I did a search here on BF, and can't find where one has ever been posted here before.

Beautiful example of the Old Style Mnandi. The redesign of the mnandi is one of the few things that Chris updated that I just did not care for. I Regret every old style mnandi I ever sold. Now I am stuck with the new versions.

This was a limited run from the Chesapeake Knife and Tool company back in 2002. Only 25 were made and the cost was $475.

I don't know that off the top of my head, but I'm no CRK expert.

This one interested me because I have one of the 25 too and someone was asking me about it recently.

IN poking around a bit, the reaction on this forum was CK&T was selling these limited editions at a premium. Not sure if this run proved profitable enough to spawn others. I did see that this company filed for Chapter 11 in 2006, and looks like they may have closed business around then.

Please post pics of yours! I'm especially curious about it, because the one pictured in that ad is much darker than mine. Although still beautiful.

I have to chuckle about the grumbling about the price, I did just go find the thread. . If I could go back in time I'd take out a loan and buy every one of them I could at that price!

Mine is pretty light too. Think the ad I attached is a little dark and gives the impression that this burl is too.

Ah, OK. Yours is light, almost as light as Box Elder. Very pretty though, I'd love to see more pics of it. Are you the original owner? Any idea where the other 23 might be? From googling pics of Black Ash, I'll bet they all look different like yours and mine do.

BTW, did you notice the typo in the first ad you posted? Black Ash Buri.

Here's the ones I know about;

The original numbered 200, most were Ziricote, around 10 were Buckeye Burl
The Redwood Burl numbered run of 25 for Knifeart, made simultaneous with the original run
This Black Ash run of 25 for CK&T
A numbered run of 50 Giraffe bone, don't know who sold those


I'll bet there's several more that I'm better off not knowing about.

Yeah, I'm hunting one myself. I'd really like to get one Mnandi from each limited run, and one from each year. The way they seemed to have spaced the runs out I can fill both without a closet full of Mnandis.
