Hello everyone! I have a new knife model for you to consider. It is roughly based on the profile of Benchmade's new "Raghorn" model, so I named it the "Wapiti", which is a Native American word for elk. The blade steel is thin Bohler K390 Microclean at a whopping 65HRC. Heat treatment was done in shop with a "cryo" quench and low temperature tempering. K390 is very close to CPM10V and has a lot of wear resistance with 16% vanadium carbide, but is still quite tough. The blade has a full flat grind that is quite thin. The behind the edge thickness at the edge shoulers is 0.008". That is after sharpening, not before, and that is indeed a thin grind. The handle is claro walnut that has been treated with Danish oil and TruOil. I build up several very thin coats of TruOil over the coarse of several days to where it has a glossy shine, and then knock it back to satin with steel wool. It's not stabilized, but the TruOil does an excellent job keeping the wood protected. I do really like the scallops at the front of the handle. Every grip style feels extremely comfortable, and I can't put the knife down when fiddling with it while watching TV! The blade aslo features a hand rubbed finish, not something you see a lot of on hard wear resistance steels. The edge was sharpened using the "dual grit" method, which has been around for a long time but is now starting to see some attention on social media. Both sides get apexed at 400, then one side is progressed up to the DMT EEF diamond plate stone, then stropped on leather with compound. DMT says it is an 8000 grit plate, but feels more like 3000 or 4000, honestly. It is just stupid sharp. While K390 is not stainless by any means, it is more corrosion resistant than simple carbon steel, more akin to how A2 reacts. Kydex sheath included. If you have any questions, just comment below. Thanks for taking a look!

Paypal preferred (samuraistuart@yahoo.com). That is also my email address if you would like to contact me with email. All orders include free shipping anywhere in the U.S.A. All knives come with an unlimited lifetime warranty. I just ask that the buyer be aware that my knives are meant to be used for their intended purpose and not abused. I like to make thin, hard, well heat treated knives that excel at push cutting and slice cutting, not necessarily able to cut through the hood of a car, or pry a lid off a paint can. If you need a knife to do that sort of thing, I can recommend a few good custom makers, or even a few commercial companies. Thank you for taking a look at my work, and if you would like, check out my Instagram page (stuartalandavenport).
