Prototype "Springer Mountain"
Working into a more Camp Knife profile, I set out to create a very useful chopping profile knife that would be light enough to prove suitable for longer camping / hiking trips. I chose a much thinner stock than you would normally see on a blade of this length in order to keep the overall weight of the finished knife down. Also, for the prototype I chose to use a re-curve profile which can add to chopping ability and is again a slight weight saver. (The final blade model will be available with or with out re-curve)
The point of balance for this knife is directly under the "F" of the blade's Logo.
I have plans to do some more design with the tip profile and come up with a few more options. This first model has a rather pronounce belly to it which helps to keep the weight forward aiding in chopping ability.
Steel: 1095
Thickness: Distal Tapered 3/16 In
Blade: 6 In
O/A: 10 1/4 In
Grind: Flat
Finish: High Polished
Handle: Flamed Maple
Sheath: Leather
