Wow, this might be the silver lining to my canceling my Hunter order... I'm really liking this one.

The Hiking Buddy looks good too. I should get one....HikingMano's Hiking Buddy :D

Freaking amazing work! I'm really digging the bush finger and the hiking buddy!

Did I miss the whole "spalted steel" thing, or did it just start happening somewhere along the way? How are you doing that? Or is that a special recipe that is classified? ;) It really looks good. I love the forged/heat treat scale look, so the more the merrier!

 Awesome! I figured you were pulling out all the stops on these and did you ever.
I'm usually not one for fighter but that new one is absolutely wicked cool.
Great new designs, brother. I like them all.

This is a model that really excites me. Just my style. Little cutters.

The knife is called the Hikingbuddy. Its 7.5" OAL, and has a 3.125" long blade. I did two in this batch out of 1/8" thick 01 steel

Spalted Steel is a nickname I've given for the look I'm getting in the carbon steels. In the last month I've figured out how to control it a bit. The recipe is a trade secret.

Somehow I knew that one would be up your alley Mike. Its my kinda knife, and we have very similar tastes.

Glad to hear of the silver lining HM. Anytime you're ready, the order can be re-placed.

You da man, Andy

I think things might be lookin up after this fall, so I might be getting back on the list sooner rather than later :) In the meantime, if you get a chance, can you snap a shot of the Bushfinger and the Hunter side by side? I'm thinking something midway between the two would be nice for me...the hunter's wider handle up towards the index finger combined with blade shape and dimensions of the Bushfinger...sorta like a Hunter on a diet....

Nice new designs, Andy. Especially the hiking buddy. Just remind me to order thick handles. Never saw Will's handles so don't know how thick they were but probably need something along those lines.

The ladyfinger is perfect for me as the smaller handle goes with the smaller blade in good proportion for me. I really need to talk to you about a re-handle for the Bushcrafter though. I'll get around to it one day so don't worry about it. Maybe play around with a stir stick and some clay too, or maybe several stir sticks glued together...

Those look great Andy, I really like the look of that little Hiking Buddy too. I wish I lived closer, I'd come down and drag you and your knives out in the woods for a morning to do an impromptu photoshoot :)

You aren't far. Come to the shop.

I know it's not really that far, but it's further than I can get away to for a day just yet. I do have a trip to Lanett planned for the end of this summer though. That is a couple hours south of you so hopefully you'll be around and I can stop by for a while on the way down.

Andy any pics of the rest of them, have you finished making them yet? That scandi hiking buddy has me rethinking a three finger BLJ anyway.

I've got the pattern cut for the 3 finger Joe. Another batch of knives is in the works right now. Mostly orders. Pics soon, then I'll get yours done. Plus several more of the new models, and as of this weekend a 7" bladed chopper and a competition cutter. Woo hoo. Drawings are coming to me nowadays!

Man, that bushfinger has me reconsidering my recluse order. The point profile seems really similar, how do the handles compare? Can you do a side by side pic?

Thanks alot!

Brandon

I sent the only Bushfinger out now. I don't have pics side by side, but the handles are very similar. The same lengths, both drop points. Very similar knives.

yo Andy... i can't stop looking at this thread...

what are you asking for these "hiking buddy's"... i love the looks of this one..:D

$175 is the base price. I'm stoked about this one too. I showed them off at the Guild meeting and folks liked them a lot. Its going to be hard on me to sell the convex one, but it is for sale now.

So what was the consensus at the Guild - did they like the scandi or convex 'Buddy best for cutting ability?
