New Mora Craftline Allround knife

Sweet!! Even better then the current craftsman, love that grip an sheath. Whole profile looks slimmer too.

I just received a new Mora knife, one of their Craftline Series, the Allround. At first glance it is similar in appearance to the 840 or 860 in that the handle has the same general shape and the blade is Scandi ground. Comparing it to my 840, the rubber covered grip area has a different texturing than the Clipper series and I find that the new handle surface has a “stickier” or more secure feel. The stainless blade is thicker than my carbon steel 840 measuring .100” thick at the spine while my 840 is .079. Also the spine is nicely ground while the 840 spine has a rough, unfinished appearance.

From the same internet auction seller that I got the knife from I purchased a leather sheath that will fit this knife or my 840 Mora. It is heavy leather, well stitched and fits the new knife snugly.

I am looking forward to trying the new knife out, till then here are a couple of pictures. You can see the difference in the spine thickness, blade finish, and the handle texture.

I got mine yesterday, great knife. I definite refinement to the Clipper, and the new handle "tread" is really grippy!!

I just bought an Allround based on North's excellent review and photos. Thanks North!

I already have 840 and 860 Clippers and consider the Allround to be an improvement (although I wish there was a carbon steel option)

Sheath retention is much better with the Allround than with the Clipper. The slightly thicker and better finished blade is also a welcome update.
I have put a convex secondary bevel on mine and it cuts like a laser.
I can't believe that Mora of Sweden can make such a good knife for such a reasonable price!

Mine came today and I took it out in the back yard and whittled on a very dry old maple round with it and another new knife with O1 blade steel (hollow ground w/convexed edge). The Craftline's scandi grind was better for working the hard maple, and the edge retention seemed to be as good as the O1 blade. Both blades were back to shaving sharp with a little run across the loaded leather belt on my 1x30 belt sander. It's a great knife! I feel like my other various Moras are now obsolete... this one has my favorite handle. The sheath is excellent with better retention than the other Mora sheaths. I really like the clip-on belt loop feature. It's convenient but secure.

Highly recommended!

Stay sharp,

Sure. I'll send one with my payment for the other sheaths that I ordered from you. Let me know what you have available and I'll see what knives I have that match up.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack... the Craftline is indeed an improved Clipper. Thumbs way up :thumbup:

I have done business with the seller. Very nice people and fast shipping. They have some hard to find Moras.

Yes, I was very happy with the experience. Very fast and reasonably-priced shipping, and the selection does seem rather good. Had to navigate quickly away from that page after my purchase was done!

I ordered two on Friday and they came in today. The thicker blade and change in grip texture makes a world of difference to me. I really like the new finish and sheath as well. My thanks to North for the heads up.

Oh yeah, if anyone has a magnet handy and wouldn't mind getting a tang-depth, that'd be sweet!

Spooky,

A magnet...what a great idea. I've been wracking my shrinking brain for a way to figure out where the tang ends. How long have you all known about this and why have you been keeping it a secret from me? I swear my mind's not where it's supposed to be...I was going to ask a veterinary friend to take some radiographs of the knives but this is so much simpler.

Boy, I feel dumb.
