Sure enough. You start something, and it has bugs. There are being worked on at this very moment. You can still register, and I'm still somewhat in shock that we got the "OK" to DO this thing...

Oh, and if you want to see a "Favorite" icon, come in through THIS URL: www.microholics.com/index.html It's Java based, and may take a while, but it puts a "favorite icon" in the address line, both while you're there, and if you SAVE it to a bookmark. Very cool.

Ty,

I am glad to see this but could you please explain the difference between "authorized" and "the ok"? To me "authorized" means supported by the company and "the ok" means tolerated. Am also curious as to what is going to happen to the Microtech forum at KF?

Respectfully yours...

WOW Six emails in the last few hours to us about this...

OK Let me explain. Tom Kyle is a Microtech distributor and Tony's right hand man when it comes to the custom MT knives. This new site is owned and operated by Tom Kyle who in effect works for Microtech in some capacity.

We would have started the MT forum here but as you can see what has happened behind the scenes has prevented us from doing it in an official capacity. We offered to have the forum hosted here with Ty and Valmet as moderators. We would have even let Tom host it here but that was seemingly not in the cards.

We are sory this deal did not work out and understand that the embers here do not want to bounce all over the net looking for information. We also understand that MT can have their forum anywhere they wish and Tom is a logical choice for them to maintain control.

My advice to Tom, Ty and Valmet is the same advice I gave to Josh Burbank when he started RDK. Please allow the freedom and exchange of information. Do not opertate the forum as an extension of your own business and make everyone (dealers and ELU's) feel welcome. If you put to many restrictions on the members and dealers alike you will find your forum will have no or very little traffic very quickly.

We wish the new forum good luck.

Question for Ty: What happens to the MT forum at KFC?

The KFC MT forum is alive and well, with "Lucky Dog" now at the helm. He is a true enthusiast and a great guy.

Although there are now 2 forums for MT, I feel it will only facilitate the rapid dissemination of MT tips, news, and opinions for everyone to read & critique.

Just to answer, Chief. I'm not sure what "OK" means really, but "Authorized" means that formal initiative was taken by us to ask for permission by the factory to do a forum on their product. They said "yes". This opened up doorways to get on the "inside" for content that we could not have otherwise received.

As for KFC, I made sure there was no conflict of interest, and contacted James Nowka last night, or early this morning. I thought that "Lucky Dog" would make a good representative for the MT forum there, (and said so). KFC never had "formal permission" from MT, but Earl put it in with the original intention (and tacit agreement) that some posts would be made by the factory. They never were, but that didn't stop the forum, obviously.

Hope that helps to clarify.

I thought Ty was ready to open a forum here? What happened? Looks like there may be more to this than is being said.

I really only read about the autos and am pretty much a lurker. I don't have time to read several forums and I would like to spend all my time in one spot.

Is it possible to open a Microtech forum here? Even if Microtech does not officially recognize it, I would rather hang out in here. I am sure there are enough forum members who know enough to help out and if Ty and Valmet are true "Microholics" they could help out too!

How bout it Mike and Spark?

PS I got my Sharpmaker 204 and LOVE IT! My old Buck 110 has not seen a sharp edge since it was given to me by my dad for HS graduation in '76... Thanks to Sal Glesser and Spyderco for such a great product.
