I recieved my first Spyderco yesterday. I have been collecting traditional and newer folders for some years now and never owned a Spyderco. Mainly because of their overall looks. I am conservative in nature so most of the blade styles are not appealing to me. Recently saw IMO one that looks perfect, the native 5 in S35VN, G10 scales, conservative overall appearance for a Spyderco, and the new pivot style.

overall extremely pleased with the knife, one of the sharpest Out of box knives I have ever had. Blade centering is not perfect but close and it wil be a Edc in every way so that does not bother me. Time will tell but based on first impressions this knife will be in my pocket for some long rides in the future.....

That's the one that got me hooked on Spydies. Once you're okay with the N5, the others start looking right-purdy.

It's possible that it isn't, but I thought I read somewhere that it was discontinued. Perhaps just out of stock at most places. I'd totally pull the trigger on that one, but I just got a new knife a couple days ago. Trying to exercise some restraint and only buy 1 knife per quarter. :D

I haven't seen any indication of it being discontinued, but it's definitely sold out at a lot of places.

Terrific knife!

That must be the case then, my mistake! Guess I'll put it back on 'the short list' with the Roc, the Green G10 Military and G10 Dragonfly. Good news.

Even better because it has an amazing choil. ( I love my enuff--great ergos--but the Native is my fave too.)

i just got my NATIVE 5 with the G10/S35VN also has become my best EDC, and i would say its one of spyderco's best lock backs vary solid folder.

I have the Native 5 in S35VN and I like it. It is smoother than my original Native (from Walmart). That one happened to be my very first Spyderco.

The Native 5 is a great size and feels really solid. I carry my 2013 Forum version every so often.
