New Native 5

i just got my NATIVE 5 with the G10/S35VN also has become my best EDC, and i would say its one of spyderco's best lock backs vary solid folder.

+1.....although I carry the forum version it's the same frame. Well designed knife. The S35vn, and the S110, are both fine EDC blade steels and easy to maintain your edge.

I always liked mine, but something about it was slightly off. I realized it was just too blocky in hand, so I sanded the edges of the G10, and now it really melts in the hand. I highly recommend doing this.

+1 First thing I did when I got my CF S110V was round off the sharp points of CF at the choil. Now it's perfect.

Im a big fan. Love the feel of it in my hand and its a great size for an EDC. I have the fluted Ti and CF sprint run. And the plain G10 model is on its way in the mail right now.

Does anyone have any opinions on the S35VN and the S110V steel comparison........?
I have so far failed to find any comparison to reach a decision on this dilema of S35Vn or S110V.

I've Natives with both. I carried the black scaled S35vn till I picked up the forum model with the S110v and for the routine things I do, I haven't really noticed any real difference. Both will sharpen to a really nice edge and maintain it well. But I don't really do any hard use type tasks. Just the usual stuff like cardboard and other tasks that come along.

The S110v and green G10 is just cooler. Lol. :)

I'd be curious to hear from a user who cuts cardboard or cordage daily with the Native to see how it holds up.

Thank you for taking time to reply.

Yes, it certainly appear much nicer but the problem is getting hold of one.
At present, I'm deciding between the light weight S35vn or wait.....and wait.....I've waited very long.

Perhaps I'm not seeing where it indicates the G10 Native is discontinued on your link there. Entirely possible I'm missing it. I checked a couple other vendors and the Spyderco online catalog and seen no indication it was discontinued. Dunno.

I do not think it has been discontinued, that is the point

Honestly unless you plan on doing a bunch of testing just get whatever model has the handle you want. I have the 2013 Forum model in S110V and it's great but I don't see a huge difference in the steel because I'm not cutting rope or cardboard all day.
